“… it’s the 4th of July”

Here’s the greatest song entitled the 4th of July. It’s by X.

Here’s the second greatest one. It’s by U2. (Sorry no video for this one.)

I don’t think either one of them have much to do with the Declaration or Independence Day. However, let’s give thanks to God for the freedoms we possess, the freedom we share and the opportunity to live as his people with little interference.

Here is a prayer for our nation taken from the Book of Common Prayer:

Lord God Almighty, you have made all the peoples of the earth for your glory, to serve you in freedom and in peace: Give to the people of our country a zeal for justice and the strength of forbearance, that we may use our liberty in accordance with your gracious will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
