mmmm…Hermeneutics

One of my favorite subjects is hermeneutics, especially of the biblical variety. I know that is a bit nerdy but it is important nonetheless. Here is news of a hermeneutic quiz created by Scot McKnight. I am going to have to get a copy of the journal so I can take it. I predict that I will come out: moderate.

hermeneutics: the science of interpretation, esp. of the Scriptures.

It is the rules we create regarding how we know what we know about the Bible. Another aspect includes how we interpret the Bible for the sake of application.

I had to look up the word also. Also had to look up the word “consubstantiation” when reading “Girl Meets God”.

The two most important books on one’s nightstand should be the Bible and a good dictionary. Followed by that Dostoyevsky novel that one can never seem to get all the way through, a phone book of your hometown circa 1991, and something that makes you laugh.
